At the request of the Abbey, City and Region Foundation and the City of Sint-Truiden, a special abbey beer was brewed on the occasion of the first open abbey days in 2002.

What makes Adelardus Dubbel so special is the use of so-called 'gruit'. This is a mixture of about ten different indigenous herbs.

Adelardus Dubbel is a dark brown, top-fermented beer that is unfiltered, unpasteurized, and bottle-conditioned.

The ingredients are: five types of malt, two types of Belgian hops, brewing water, dark candy sugar, yeast, and 'gruit'.

Our abbey beer has a full flavor with a very soft, spicy nose and a slightly bitter finish.
